Harry Potter and the Cursed Child wins 6 Tony Awards
Harry Potter and the Cursed child triumphed yesterday as it received 6 Tony awards yesterday, including Best play, Best costume designer of play and Best direction of a play! Inspired by J. K. Rowling’s work, the play was written by Jack Thorne and focuses on Harry Potter youngest son, Albus Severus. After a successful debut in 2016 in London, the play opened last April on Broadway in the Lyric Theatre.
Receiving the award on behalf of Jack Thorne producer Colin Callender declared last night "One of the great joys of producing this play is this extraordinary company of actors and craftsmen. And no one embodies the spirit of that company more than the man who is the beating heart of this play, the man who actually during the course of writing the play became a father: Jack Thorne."
